Yes, we remember how he loved us. How he loves us. To this day, the words of the scriptures resonate through. Be it in mass proceedings, self readings, church group meetings. The teachings are laid out in terms that we can understand and relate to.
To reflect upon.
To act with Love.
To walk humbly with our God.
So what is the significance of the Christmas tree found in nearly every household? Believers and non believers. Why are presents being purchased, wrapped up in pretty packages and delivered only at this time of the year? Why have people selected the 25th December to be the only day in the year to attend mass?
I believe in God. I believe in Jesus Christ, his only son Our Lord. Who was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit. Born of the Virgin Mary. Crucified, died and was buried.
We celebrate because we believe.
And we believe in the one Lord.
I pray that we will remember Him. When all else fails, when our hearts are burning with anger [pain and hatred], may we remember Him. May we follow in His ways. And learn to forgive. To love wholeheartedly. And love when love is no longer an option.
To be wise.
To not let fear stop us from helping others or let biased judgments mislead us.
To not see with eyes of doubt, but belief.
I pray for the safety of our families and friends. I pray for those who are travelling to see their loved ones. I pray for those who are making yet another attempt to connect with people whom they have lost touch with.
I pray for the lost, the hungry and the homeless.
I pray that you will instill in us a new heart. To start afresh. To learn your ways. To do your will. To help where help is needed.
I make this prayer, through Christ our Lord...
Amen.
Here's to the King of kings.
