This must be the most prehistoric blog title ever.
In the past couple of months, from social outings, I have learned so much about babies and their development. I have observed different styles of parenting. I have heard, with much sympathy, about things that happen within the nine month period when a child is growing from within.
And while I am far from being a parent myself, I am starting to see that it is not one with the best looks or the biggest house that makes a good parent. Nor is it the one with the most fashionable clothes. Or the one with the most facebook friends.
But it is the one with a heart that is prepared to love and care endlessly. The one who is willing to wake up at all hours of the night to soothe a crying infant. One who will watch chaos aka. tantrums enfold in front of them and understand that it is the child's way of explaining their needs, as hair-tearingly frustrating as they may be.
And it is the one who will sit by their child's side and nurture their creativity and learning. With much patience. Come to think of it, there is no good or bad parent but one who tries his/her best.
I believe that we are given enough imagination to take sneak peeks into the world through the eyes of a child. To see its sparkle as the eyes glaze over a shiny object on the floor. To see the joys of wanting to taste everything he/she touches. To be thoroughly amazed at his/her own screams and new muscle abilities (including throwing all that is in its way).
And all of this has somehow influenced and changed my perceptions of the qualities that I would find attractive/admirable in a suiting partner.
Not that I am fishing. Although if I was, I must have been looking for a fry. Or was at the wrong pond.
Here's to seeing new wonders.
I truly enjoy reading this post. In fact, i love it! Thanks Mon.
