Then boot cast rash, now infection

Just when I thought I knew everything there is to know about fractures and the shenanigans of casts, a rash forms itself in the shape of my boot cast strap and transforms itself into an infection.

I finally went to the GP late Thursday evening when my left foot swelled up and had black blotches where it once used to be just a rash.

The GP was rather concerned and prescribed me with an ointment called "Kenacomb". A ridiculously expensive ointment at $72 per tube. And I purchased an antihistamine for the itchiness.

The pharmacist asked if I was alright with an antihistamine that could cause drowsiness but had more effectiveness. At that time, anything "more effective" sounded plausible to me so I bought it.

Not knowing that I was going to be a zombie from the time I took it. I was glued to the sofa since Friday and it was only this morning that I was able to wake up feeling fresh and able.

The rash really threw me off my plans. And into a pit filled with darkness (aka. lacking the much needed happy sunny feeling of light). I was so upset over the rash/infection that I could not do anything. Not even blog about it. It was just too hard.

It was the same feeling of helplessness and inexperience that I felt when the cast first came on my leg. Or when I could not walk properly because of the muscles in my leg.

But I am glad to be back on track. On the road to recovery. Although the top of my foot has turned to a dull shade of black. But when I press it, I can still sense it and I can wriggle my toes. Only the toes were itching this morning but I have put on some kenacomb (after scratching the toes) so it is not itchy... for now.

If anything does go out of the ordinary again, I shall visit the GP. This note is really for E, you really are a mummeh [insert smile here].

Here's to infections?
