I love places that are hidden away from the main strips. Small, cosy, red bricked, homey cafes. But I have found all of that in a restaurant. In Brooklyn. At a Latin-American Carribean restaurant called Palo Santo which is snugly situated in between the row of apartments along Union St in Park Slope. And I only realised it was there when Sky pointed it out to me as she was giving me a quick tour of the neighbourhood.
In brief, the food was amazing. I had an entree of baby tomatoes which was homegrown at the rooftop, hence the name "rooftop tomatoes". It was so full of flavour. The herbs, wow! It is citrusy, sweet and vinegarilly sour at the same time. And it was fragrant.
The steak. So good
The wine, just the way I liked it. Full bodied with this beautiful after taste and with a slight tone of spiciness. It was Argentinian.
Talk about a great degustation at 8.30 in the evening.
Only thing that was missing was a bum bum on the seat before me. It was a good experience nevertheless. I am always comfortable being on my own but it would be nice to have shared the experience with someone.
Here's to venturing out.
