2013 to 2014

I was lucky enough to have been re-invited to a Creative Day of Genius by Alicia. It is a day or in this case, a 4 hour session of reflection and goal setting. It is nice to be in the company of other women who are like-minded and supportive. And it was good to take a break and recognise that another year was coming upon us.

3 things that were discussed amongst many:

Positive things that have happened in 2013. Life adventures in 2014. Goals for 2014.

I realised that I had a lot to be thankful for. I posed the same questions to Gene and it was wonderful to see how well received they were. Guess he is used to me picking at his brain for answers to weird and fictional scenarios. This one, he said later, was good.

2014 for me is a year of relationship, focus, growth and self-control. Relationship with my family and friends. Focus on the present. Growth in my career, specifically my writing and training. Self-control in my emotion and cravings.

Positive things that have happened...

I learned to face confrontation. And to deal with taking things personally. I have cooked a wide range of dishes. From hainanese chicken rice to lasagne to chicken quinoa salads. I have made exotic condiments like chimichurris and not so exotic pestos. I became a freelance writer for weekend notes. I went to America with Gene. And Bali. And we made it through the other end alive. I successfully hosted a global training webinar. We bought a scooter! And found our cafe. I paid off my car. I was a mentor. I learned the value of friendships. I prioritised my loved ones. Danced in Miami. Ate oysters in New Orleans. Fell in love all over again in New York. Segwayyed in San Francisco.

We shall see what the new year brings.

  1. Wow... Thats really a short and precise list of achievements. Two things that i loved in this post is to know that you learned to control emotions and cravings--- I find it very hard to be objective by crushing the pain inside.

Secondly, i am craving to have hanain chicken next time i am in a Chinese restaurant...! The name sounds so delicious.

    Keep it up!!

  2. Hi The Sane, thanks for sharing your thoughts. The ability to control emotions and cravings is certainly a focus for 2014. I am beginning to learn that it goes hand in hand with the ability to let go and be open to new ideas.

Glad to know that I have intrigued you with the idea of hainanese chicken rice. Let me know what you think. haha!

Thanks for the words of encouragement.
