Now I know that it is normal for the foot to have bruising around the fracture after the cast comes off. And the bruising can last a couple of months.
It is also completely normal to not be able to move your ankle because it has been at a 90 degree position for five weeks. It will lose its stiffness over time but the important thing is that you do not try and force the stretch with your hands.
And the dryness in the skin is normal. The discomfort / pain / soreness is normal.
Over time, it does become normal to walk with crutches. To rest your leg at an elevation. And sometimes, you even forget about the fracture. You become an expert at climbing stairs with crutches. You master slowness.
Here's to becoming normal again.
